I have no doubt that this will come back to bite me in some form. But, in the case of our burgeoning library of cookery books I felt I had to take a stand.
The area in which I am most weak is my own collection of “designer” books. These don’t even have a function, like a cookery book does. They’re just pretty. I suffeer from a coffee table book disorder run rampant. I expect a flanking manoeuvre in this area very soon.

Mean, no. But marriage is nothing if not a quest for equality. Beware the arbitrary rule, for it may come back to bite you in the butt. Debra and I once set a rule that neither of us could buy anything over $100 without talking to each other first. Within two months, we’d both broken it. She once demanded that no one of us commit us to an evening out without consulting the other first. That worked until she agreed to dinner with friends when I needed to stay home to get some work done. You get the idea. If it takes 10 recipes before she can move onto the next book, might you, by the same token, need to wear out the button on that cool gadget before you buy your next one. Scary? Yes, yes it is…
