Here’s another portrait. I plucked this shot of Hoffman from a photography book in the studio at Strodes Sixth Form College where I do my art class. His eyes water like he’s in a permanent state of melancholy. Or maybe I’m seeing that retrospectively.
The development work for this shot was quite tough in that it started out looking NOTHING like him. I’m not that patient with the sketching phase and get onto painting quite quickly. It took a lot of moving and shoving once the acrylic started going down to get his features together, particularly the nose, lips and his right cheek.
I mean, who is this guy?
Better cheek and lips. Sorting out his left eye.
Bigger nose helps a bit.
