I thought I’d post a few shots of this acrylic I painted a year ago of John Hurt. Its significantly larger than the portrait of Philip Seymour Hoffman that I posted about last week. This isn’t really a fan thing. Although I am a fan. He’s just got a great face to paint. Love the droop in the left eye, for example.
The great thing about working at this larger scale means that you can really throw the paint on. The bigger images look so much better from a distance whereas I’m a bit disappointed how the smaller ones look from further away.
Like the Hoffman shot, this painting is based on a photo I ripped out of a magazine, whose attribution I unfortunately lost. If anyone knows who it was taken by please let me know.
