Health Care: Intel Health Guide Lets Doctors Check Up On You Electronically
“The Health Guide includes a small touch-screen PC running Windows XP and a web portal that helps connect patients and doctors. The computer can be used to remind patients to take their medications, facilitate live video conferencing with doctors, and even check and collect their vital signs.”

Home Healthcare will not care for anyone who cannot take care of themselves safely. It is a VERY BASIC level of care which is mostly just a visit that a child of 14 could perform better and more consistently.

I am speaking of Home Health provided by Medicare providers and paid by Medicare after a hospital visit.

The Home Health people do not help alleviate the worry or amount of time family or patient must dedicate to their problems the Home Health Agency GREATLY increases your problems. They will not do anything but talk to the person for maybe 1/2 hour per visit. Take BP and pulse. And tell you you are responsible for all your own healthcare period.

Home Health is not for people who cannot already do everything that YOU need them to do for you. I was specifically told this by our RN case manager.

The PT person does have my parent do toe taps, slight knee bends, and a short walk around the house. Whopee! What a racket.

The OT person watched my parent make toast and oatmeal. This was the biggest thing they did with 6 visits.

The nurses change every visit so there is no way for an accurate assessment of changes to be done. And you have to explain over and over and over because it is a new nurse everytime. And the nurses all give different advice.

Please be warned about home healthcare. They are not very helpful. A consistent neighbor kid who can visit everyday for an hour is a much better investment then Home Health.

Also Home Health WILL act as a “policing” force for the state and turn your parent in if they feel your parent is a liability to them. For instance if your parent smokes and they think they MAY forget to put the cigarette out or if they think your parent may forget to take their pills.

Even if your parent WANTS to stay home and chooses NOT to take their pills…. once you have Home Health in your house your parent loses their right to decide on their own because Home Health is now “responsible” and they will hotline or turn your parent in.

PLEASE be warned and find out what your parent wants before you get “”" help “”" from Home Health.
